SCADA Architecture

SCADA-->Supervisory control and data acquisitionFrom the above architecture explains the scada equipment setup, and each every equipment plays a major role in achieving the process of monitoring, control and data acquisition.

GPS -->

GPS is been installed to provide a precision in time synch between and the controllers .so that the respective data’s from the controllers can be achieved with respect to the time stamping.

ES (Ethernet switch) -->

Ethernet switch  connects devices and controllers together on a local area network using copper cables or by fiber optic cables.

Coppercables-->

copper cables are used for creating a local area network by looping all the ethernet switches and devices to bring in a local area network.

HMI-->

Human Machine Interface (HMI), also referred to as User Interface, Operator Panel or Terminal, provides a means of controlling, monitoring, managing and/ or visualizing device processes. An example is an operator panel which allows an industrial machine operator to interact with a machine in a graphical, visual way.

GTW (Gateway) --> protocol converter ....The SCADA Data Gateway (SDG) is a Windows™ application used by System Integrators and Utilities to collect data from OPC, IEC 60870-6 (TASE.2/ICCP), IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5, DNP3, or Modbus Server/Slave devices and then supplies this data to other control systems supporting OPC, IEC 60870-6 (TASE.2/ICCP) Client, IEC 60870-5, DNP3, and/or Modbus Client/Master communication protocols.
T101, T104-->IEC60870 protocols commonly used Telebus

NR (Numerical Relay)-->

In utility and industrial electric power transmission and distribution systems, a digital protective relay is a computer-based system with software-based protection algorithms for the detection of electrical faults.Such relays are also termed as microprocessor type protective relays. They are functional replacements for electro-mechanical protective relays and may include many protection functions in one unit, as well as providing metering, communication, and self-test functions.

RTU (Remote terminal unit)-->

A remote terminal unit (RTU) is a multipurpose device used for remote monitoring and control of various devices and systems for automation. It is typically deployed in an industrial environment and serves a similar purpose to programmable logic circuits (PLCs) but to a higher degree. An RTU is considered a self-contained computer as it has all the basic parts that, together, define a computer: a processor, memory and storage. Because of this, it can be used as an intelligent controller or master controller for other devices that, together, automate a process
